Our Story

Saudamini Handloom LLP was born from a simple belief that India's extraordinary handloom heritage deserves to be preserved, celebrated, and passed on to future generations.

Founded by Anagha Ghaisas, a filmmaker, entrepreneur, and passionate advocate for Indian textiles, Saudamini Handlooms began after witnessing the challenges faced by handloom weavers across the country. What started as a deep love for sarees soon became a mission to revive rare weaving traditions, restore dignity to artisans, and ensure that India's centuries-old handweaving legacy continues to thrive in the modern world.

For over a decade, Anagha Ghaisas has worked closely with weavers across India through Saudamini Handlooms and the Heritage Handweaving Revival Charitable Trust. She has played a key role in reviving forgotten medieval designs, preserving traditional weaving practices, and bringing museum-worthy masterpieces back to life for contemporary audiences.

Today, her contribution to the textile sector extends beyond revival work. She serves on the National Textile Committee, Government of India, and is associated with leading textile institutions including the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Institute of Textile Management, Coimbatore, and the Indian Institute of Handloom Technology, Kannur.

Alongside her work in handlooms, Anagha has organized nationally acclaimed exhibitions and events and produced several documentary films on subjects of cultural and social significance. Her work includes films on Nanaji Deshmukh, the Ayodhya Ram Mandir movement, the National Defence Academy (NDA), and other impactful stories. She has also served as a Governing Council Member of the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII).

In 2023, combining her passion for handlooms with devotion and community participation, she led a unique initiative called 'Do Dhaage Shree Ram ke Liye' in Pune, where over 12 lakh people contributed threads of faith that were woven into sacred vastras for Prabhu Shri Ram in Ayodhya.

At Saudamini Handlooms, every saree is more than a garment. It is a living piece of India's cultural heritage, carrying within it the skill of master artisans, the beauty of centuries-old traditions, and the commitment to keep this art alive for generations to come.
